Born in 1938, and received his Ph.D. from the Faculty of Medicine, Kobe University in 1968.

From 1970 to 1971, he studied abroad at the University of Munich, Germany, focusing on cardiac surgery.

Research on water began in 1985.

In 1995, he published an original theory in Japan and the United States at the same time: drinking hydrogen-rich water is effective for the prevention and treatment of diseases.

In September 2001, the "active hydrogen water generator" was successfully developed.

He has also given lectures on active hydrogen and "hydrogen-rich water" at the "International Medical Association".
